The eccentric tennis professional Nick Kyrgios is about to make his comeback on the tour after a long period of suffering. As the 2022 Wimbledon finalist announced, he wants to return to the court at the ATP tournament in Brisbane around the turn of the year and then also serve at the Australian Open (from January 12th). The Australian has only played one single game as a professional in the past two years due to persistent problems with his knee, foot and wrist.
“I feel fit and healthy and look forward to my return to tennis after a long break. It has been a long road to recovery,” said Kyrgios in a statement – and on the Australian television channel Channel Nine He added: “Playing in front of the home fans again will be an amazing feeling.”
Kyrgios wants to “silence” critics
Kyrgios had previously announced that he wanted to compete at the show event in Abu Dhabi in December. His goal in the coming years is to “silence” his critics and win a Grand Slam title.
The strong-serving professional earned a dubious reputation at the beginning of his career, especially with outbursts of anger and discussions during his matches, which he improved with his sporting successes. The 29-year-old also recently worked as an interviewer – including at the US Open. Now he wants to get back on the pitch.
