So far, Joshua Zirkzee (23) hasn’t really been able to gain a foothold as a new Manchester United player. The meager goal tally after his 42 million euro move from FC Bologna to the island: one goal in 17 competitive games.
He also lost his regular place to the recovered Rasmus Höjlund (21). As a result, the first rumors about a return to Italy began to circulate. In addition to Juventus Turin, SSC Napoli is now also said to have put out feelers to Zirkzee.
The Naples-based daily newspaper ‘Il Mattino’ brings the center forward into discussion at least with the Serie A leaders. What’s more: There are reports of a potential exchange deal in which Victor Osimhen (25) could be included.
Osimhen for Zirkzee?
The Nigerian attacker has been a constant candidate for a move to a top club in recent years, but ended up on loan at Galatasaray last summer. Osimhen is doing his homework there and is already being considered for a commitment to the Premier League. Chelsea FC, among others, is considering a winter initiative.
Provided the loan with the Turks is broken off early – another six million euros would then be due – the 35-time national player could sign with another club in January. Osimhen would then be available for a fixed 75 million. Or the Red Devils can arrange the swap deal.
However, such a deal is more complicated to implement: In this case, four parties would have to be convinced of the transfer: Zirkzee, Osimhen, United and Naples. And according to ‘Il Mattino’, there are indications that the Italians are not interested in such a player swap, although United would probably add an extra 30 million on top.
